Josie Valderrama, Psy.D.
A primary focus of my practice is working with LGBTQ clients and other sexual minorities (poly; kink). As a psychologist, my goal is to collaborate with you on your healing, learning and growth. My approach combines talk therapy with experiential depth work including mindfulness, somatic attunement, generative trance states and self-integrating modalities such as internal family systems.
I resonate with shamanic traditions and view life as an unfolding journey. At the same time, I ground my approach in science and empirically-supported techniques. I endeavor to model a holistic and cross-systems approach which embraces non-duality and the truth of paradox.
For some, the therapeutic process is an important step in one’s development and personal evolution. I look forward to the vital work I do with my clients, utilizing clinical tools and real-world experience to facilitate transformation and empowerment.
I know what it feels like to live with emotional turmoil, uncertainty, and confusion- frustration at wanting to live up to your potential, but feeling stymied. Seeking out therapy is courageous and momentum-building, a step which demonstrates commitment to loving oneself. Change your life for the better! Illuminate your path through self-determination, nurturance, compassion and connection with cherished values. I am happy to discuss further.
